Hi there! I’m Sharon West and I know most of you have never heard of being employed as a nurse from home. Well, truth is, neither did when I started this journey years ago. I get to work from home while watching my kids, and I still get to help others with my nursing background. My job is so flexible, I can easily work around all the craziness that comes with being a stay at home mother.

I’m a mom just like you. And just like you, I had to balance being a mom with having a career in nursing. Several years ago, I had one child in preschool and another in diapers. I was shopping the help-wanted ads hoping for a flexible position that would still allow me to use my nursing skills. I sure couldn’t find any. At the time, my baby was teething, my preschooler had just scribbled all over my living room wall, and the mortgage was overdue. I needed to work. And I needed to work, like, yesterday. I thought it had to be too good to be true. I mean, seriously, work from home, in nursing? Right.

But it was for real. For the next week, I searched high and low for nursing from home jobs. I randomly just picked one job out of the list I complied.  I knew I wasn’t going to lose anything by at least applying. Soon, I landed my first work from home nursing job. I started out with a small freelance job that lasted 3 days. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I was just getting my feet wet. Wow, I thought to myself, this is great and a week later I decided to try to apply to a few more jobs. Within a couple of weeks, I had my first steady online nursing job. I was working 15-25 hours a week, and I was able to do it from home. Now, it wasn’t a full-time job. Not yet. I wasn’t ready for that, and my family wasn't either.

After about a year of doing nursing work from home, I decided to start this site in my spare time and help bring nursing jobs to other stay at home moms. I always wished there was a site like this when I started. It would of been so much easier on my family and I. I have been so thankful that I am able to balance my career without sacrificing my family, and now I want to share that with you.

Fast forward six months. I had picked up a couple of other small positions, I was working a few hours here and there doing what I loved – nursing – from home! Starting out, I was able to work as little or as much as I wanted. When my baby had to have shots, I was able to work around it without compromising my paycheck. And when my preschooler suddenly had to spend several days in the hospital – I was still able to work as a nurse, from home, in between hospital visits and my husband’s job. When my family needed me to be both mom and wage-earner – I was able to, because of the flexibility of my field and the continued ability to find new positions working from home. Take a look at the current job listings now.

Perhaps the biggest test of all was when my husband got laid off during the winter months. This time actually allowed me to take a further step forward and look for even more paying work from home nursing positions. I didn’t have a choice at the time – with my husband at home, we had to have more money coming in. It only took a couple of weeks, and I was able to start adding other small positions to my caseload. By the time my husband was finally able to find a job, three months later, I was not only working full-time, I was able to choose between jobs to decide which ones to keep long-term.

Hello Shannon, I wanted to thank you for turning me onto work at home nursing! You were right! I was able to find listings that worked for me and had my first job in a week. I’m already following up on a couple of other possibilities, and I can’t believe how easy it was! I love the fact that I can provide for our small family during these tough times and still be a mommy. I can’t thank you enough for letting me know about this. It has been just what I needed to get out into the workforce again. Grateful For You, Kim Shields
To your other potential users,
Shannon, I wanted to send you a note you could in turn share with those people who aren’t sure if this is for real, or if it could even work for them. Honey – it is for real, and oh boy, could it ever work for any of them! I found NursingJobsFromHome.org after my Fred lost his job. I was so unsure about being able to work from home in the nursing field, and you were such a peach! You were just the angel I needed to guide me through the listings, and you helped me to market myself so that these potential clients could see what I had to offer. You were the reason I was able to land my first position, not even two weeks from first finding the site! I went into the nursing field because I cared about people, NursingJobsFromHome.org and Shannon helped me remember that and use it. Now, Fred has another job, but I am staying with working from home, you guys were good to me and the updated listings are perfect for someone like me, who needs the flexibility to work around my kids and the other curveballs that life tends to throw. I love doing something I care about again, and the money is a great! Thanks again for all your help, sweetie, and best wishes, Laura Donald
I just wanted to send an email out because of what this site has done to help me. NursingJobsFromHome.org had a variety of job listings, I was able to pick and choose just the ones that worked for me! I only needed part-time work, but I didn’t want to work at something for minimum wage when I was trained as a nurse and knew I would love another part-time position as one. I’m currently working part-time and loving it. The extra income is going to really help us through the holiday season, and best of all, I’m not taking important time away from my kids doing a job I love! Thank you so much for the hard work that has to go into maintaining such a stellar list of openings.

Shannon!
Thank you so much for letting me know about working from home! I can’t believe, with 10-month-old twins at home, that I was able to even consider getting back into the nursing field again, from home, no less! You were so patient with me, helping me make sure I was marketable and made a good impression. I wanted you to know I was hired on recently, at the third position you helped me consider. After a few weeks of this flexible, friendly position, I can say it has been a great match! They work around my real-world mommy responsibilities and appreciate the skills I bring to the table. Thank you so much for helping me find a bit of myself as I searched for a job.   --Christina

For me, working from home with my nursing experience was the best decision I ever made and has afforded me more flexibility, financial freedom, and self-confidence than I never had before. Even better, because I pick the amount of work and control who I work for, I can make time for my most important position – that of being a wife and mother.

I’ve worked from home for several years now, and the nursing field is as busy as ever. Maybe I am a bit biased because of my experiences, but I think it’s the easiest work I’ve done during my over ten-year nursing career. It doesn’t even cost much get started. If you have access to a computer with an internet connection and a phone.
